Creating a New Product


Enter the information as described below. Once the information is entered you may choose to Save as Draft or Publish.

Search for Product Number User Long, short, or auxiliary item number to add and ERP validated item. If you want to add a nonrelated ERP product you must select “Generic” as search type. If the product has already been added to the module an error will be displayed. In this case there is no validation against the ERP.  Do not apply
Product Name Public-facing product name that will display on the website. Yes
Used Styled Product Name

This enables the user to edit the product name in an HTML editor. Any HTML or styling can be applied to the product name from here.

Product Name Override If styled product name is enabled, the product name override field is opened so that you may add content. No
Product Detail Page URL

The URL info entered in this section will be used in the item content URL for the website. The first part of the URL is determined based on the website and product detail naming information.

Product Classifications Product classifications are defined in Sitefinity Classifications (Taxonomies). Product classifications are used for Product search result filtering on the website (Configured in product search results widget). They can also be used by customers to filter products on the webstore. No

Product Description

This is the main product description displayed on the website for the item. This can be created and edited using the HTML editor. Content will appear in the Product Description section on the Product Detail page for this product.

Product Features

Contains the product features. This field allows HTML content. This content will appear in the product listing for this product (Catalog, Search Results and Finder).

Images, Videos, and Badges

Images

One, none, or many images may be associated with an item. You can reorder images by dragging and dropping the image thumbnails in the desired order. The first image will be the product's main image. Small, medium and large image dimensions can be defined in the General Behavior settings.  In the catalog listing the small image will be shown.  In the item content, the medium image size will be shown.  If the user clicks on the image to enlarge it from the item content page then the large image will be shown. You may choose to use an image from your local machine.  However, once that media content is uploaded in Sitefinity the images are retrieved from the Sitefinity content libraries for images.

Videos

Videos can be added to your item content. You may use an image or video from your local machine. However, once that media content is uploaded in Sitefinity it is retrieved from the Sitefinity content libraries for videos.

Badges

Badges are created from within the product module. Existing badges can be added to items in this section and will appear on the product catalog and item content pages for the associated item.

Product Detail Sections

Product detail sections are created from within the product menu. They can be shared or specific to a product.  You associate existing product detail section to a product in this section.

Attributes

Attribute values can be associated with a product directly from this section. The sequence of attributes will display based on the sequence numbers defined in the Attributes Module. The ordering defined here will NOT affect the front end.

Documents

Documents stored in the Sitefinity content libraries can be added and ordered in this section. They are displayed in the product detail section of the product content page.

Sales Price and Restriction Mode

Price

Contains the product price. Optional static list price that can be displayed on the product catalog, search results, and finder. This allows the user to filter & sort by price and faster site performance. Note: Real-time pricing information from your ERP, factoring in any discounts, will continue to appear on the product details page or when added to the cart.

Sales Restriction Mode

Determine if pricing, availability, and add to cart options are available to the customer.

Not restricted – All pricing, availability and add to cart are available.

Restricted add to cart – All information is shown but add to cart option is removed.

Restricted – All pricing, availability and add to cart options are removed.

Restriction Message

This field is visible when “Restricted Add to Cart” or “Restricted” option is selected. Defines a custom message to appear on the Product Content page for restricted products. This can be used to tell the user to call a phone number to inquire about pricing, etc.

Override Unit of Measure List

Turn this option on to override the UOM for the product. Select the desired UOM options to be used on the website for this item. For example, if there are 5 UOM for this product in your ERP, but you only want to make 2 of those UOM available online, you can define those here.

Here, you can change the default Unit of Measure for the product.

Quantity Allows Decimals

Determine whether a customer can order quantities with decimals (e.g., 1.5 units) or not.

Default Quantity

Contains the default quantity for the product. Quantity is based on the Primary UOM

Minimum Quantity This is the minimum quantity that can be purchased for this item on the website. Minimum quantity must be equal to or less than the default quantity. Quantity is based on the Primary UOM No
Use Min Qty as Increments

This field is available when the MinQty field is not empty or is greater than 0. If the option is turned on, “Min Qty” value (minimum order quantity for the product) is used as the increment by which order amounts increase (e.g., if min qty = 5, then order qty options will be 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. until max qty is reached)

Maximum Quantity

This is the maximum quantity that can be purchased for this item on the website. Maximum quantity must be equal to or greater than the default quantity and greater than the minimum quantity. Quantity is based on the Primary UOM.

Matrix Image Configuration

This field is visible if the product is matrix. Allows the user to select image configuration. Defines how images will be associated with for the Matrix Product and its variations (e.g., color, size), parent items, and children items.
Options:

Use Parent Item Images - use images associated with the matrix parent item.

Use Children Images - use images associated with matrix parent item and child’s images.

Use Images By Variation Segment - use images associated with matrix parent + matrix image variation. Upon segment value selection (e.g., red), the slider will set as active the first image available for the segment variation that matches the segment value selection.

Image Variation Segment This field is visible if the product is matrix. Define which variation segment will trigger images to change for a Matrix Item. No
Notify Me

Override Notify Me Settings

Determines whether this product will utilize the default notification (notify me) settings or follow custom notification settings. Notify Me settings impact how often a customer will be notified once a product is back in stock. 

If this setting is on then "Notification Frequency Days" and "Notification rate" fields are opened.

Notification Frequency Days - This number defines the number of days for the next execution of the Check Availability task. Enter numerical value for the frequency of checking and sending emails. An email will be sent to the customer when the process runs and finds that the product is back in stock.

1 = the process will run daily

2 = the process will run every other day

3 = the process will run every 3rd day

7 = the process will run once per week.

 

Notification Rate - This setting determines the maximum number of notifications that will be sent based on current product availability. This is a numeric value with 2 decimal positions. Examples: Notification rate: 1 This value represents a 1:1 notification rate. If there are 25 units available, a maximum of 25 email notifications will be sent. Notification rate: 0.2 This value represents a 1:0.2 notification rate. If there are 25 units available, a maximum of 5 email notifications will be sent.

PIM ID

This field can be used by customers with a separate Product Information Management (PIM) System who wish to extend the capabilities of Sitefinity/SmarterCommerce (e.g., to display PIM images on your SmarterCommerce web store). Use this field to define the identification number for the product’s associated content from the PIM. This field can be manually updated through the Product Content maintenance or via the import process.

PIM Last Update

This field can be used to track web store data updates related to this PIM ID. This field is not indented to be manipulated by the end user, but by the Synchronization process.
