Before You Begin


Before using the SmarterCommerce Call Center you need to define certain information that the system uses during processing.  Below are additional areas of attention requiring setup if to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center.  Some, none, or all may apply depending upon your company's specific business needs.

 

Setting Up Credit Card Prepayments

If you will be accepting credit cards as a form of prepayment please verify that all setup steps found within the Payment Processing guide have been successfully completed.  

 

Setting Up Marketing Code Functionality

Marketing code functionality provides your sales and marketing department the ability to link marketing events with the various elements, such as EnterpriseOne™ price adjustment schedules that can impact customer pricing along with providing a mechanism to track sales order history against current or past marketing events.  If marketing codes are to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center please verify that all setup steps found within the campaigns and marketing guide have been successfully completed.  

 

Setting up Club Membership

Club membership functionality provides your customers with the capability of associating themselves with a particular club to gain benefits such as preferential pricing, special discounts on items and freight, and recurring orders.  If club memberships are to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center please verify that all setup steps have been successfully completed.  

 

Setting up Freight Management

For parcel carriers, freight charges are generally based on fixed geographic zones, and use the weight of the package as a multiplier. Carriers might offer different price levels for the service offered. Next day delivery is normally more expensive than second day delivery, which is more expensive than standard service.  With SmarterCommerce Freight Management, freight charges for parcel carriers can be calculated during the order entry process providing your customers the total cost of their purchase.  If freight management is to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center please verify that all setup steps found within the freight management guide have been successfully completed.  

 

Setting up Email Notification

Email notification is an additional communication vehicle with your customers providing timely email communication at specific points of interaction such as order confirmation, shipment confirmation and profile changes.  If email notification functionality is to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center please verify that all setup steps found within the SmarterCommerce Email Component Installation and Configuration guide have been successfully completed. 

 

Setting Up Consumer Database Management

The SmarterCommerce Consumer Database provides customers the ability to process sales orders for direct consumers with the SmarterCommerce Call Center solution without having to setup a customer record in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne™ Address Book/Customer Master tables.  If consumer database functionality is to be utilized in conjunction with Call Center please verify that all setup steps have been successfully completed.
