Import Locations

SmarterCommerce offers the option of importing content such as locations using an excel spreadsheet template. This allows you to create or update many records at once, as an alternative to making one-by-one updates in Sitefinity/SmarterCommerce.

  1. Go to SmarterCommerce 
  2. Click Locations in the Store Locator section
  3. Click Import
  4. Download the import template. This is a pre-formatted template that includes all the relevant information that can be captured in Sitefinity/SmarterCommerce.
  5. Once the template is populated, click Select Files to find the document on your computer and upload to SmarterCommerce
  6. Confirm the upload is complete and check for errors.
    • Go to SmarterCommerce > Task Manager. Once the Task Status of your file upload is “Done”. Click on that task.
    • Click on the "…” which will open a series of options – click Download. Open the downloaded file.
    • Check the last two columns Import Status and Import Message to identify and address any errors. Edit and re-upload the file as needed.

Location Information

Use this sheet to create or edit locations and their extended content.

Name Explanation Required Requirements
Location - UrlName Internal unique key/ID for the location. Yes

Must be lowercase, no spaces, no special characters except - ! ( ) @ ‘ _ Digits allowed.
Name Public-facing name of the location. Yes
Language The website translation that this Location information will appear for. Yes Use standard HTML language codes. (e.g., EN = English; ES = Spanish)
Area Define the area code for the phone number.

 No The phone number’s area code can be entered here or with the phone number in the following field. It should not be entered in both.
Phone Number Define the phone number for the location. No
Country The country where the location is. No Enter the 2 letter country code.
State The state for the location. No Enter the 2 letter state code.

City The city where the location is. No
Zip The zip code of the location. No
Street The street address of the location. No
MapInfo - Latitude The latitude for the location. Yes Required in order to have the location appear on the Google Map.
MapInfo - Longitude The longitude for the location. Yes Required in order to have the location appear on the Google Map.
Content1 - UrlName

Define 1st piece of content to associate with the Location.

You can associate up to 5 pieces of location content (created in the Location Content module) with a Location. This content can be used to add additional information about the Location on its detail page with the Location widget.

You can choose where each content number appears within Location Detail page in the Location widget settings. All “Content 1” for each Location or Branch will appear in the same position; “Content 2” for each Location or Branch will appear in the same position; etc. 		 No

Enter the exact Location Content UrlName (unique identifier) of the content you would like to add as “Content 1” for this Location.

Note: The location Content must first be created in the SmarterCommerce Location Contents Module in Sitefinity before associating it to a Branch Plant/ location.
Content2 - UrlName Define 2nd piece of content to associate with the Location. No Enter the exact Location Content UrlName (unique identifier) of the content you would like to add as “Content 1” for this Location.
Content3 - UrlName Define 3rd piece of content to associate with the Location. No Enter the exact Location Content UrlName of the content you would like to add as “Content 3” for this Location.
Content4 - UrlName Define 4th piece of content to associate with the Location. No Enter the exact Location Content UrlName of the content you would like to add as “Content 4” for this Location.
Content5 - UrlName Define 5th piece of content to associate with the Location. No Enter the exact Location Content UrlName of the content you would like to add as “Content 5” for this Location.
Email Email associated with the location. If added here, a link with the location’s email address will appear on its detail page. No Enter email address.
Twitter URL Twitter page associated with the location. If added here, a link to the location’s Twitter page will appear on its detail page. No Enter Twitter page URL.
Facebook URL Facebook page associated with the location. If added here, a link to the location’s Facebook page will appear on its detail page. No Enter Facebook page URL.
Location Images

Use this sheet to create or edit locations and their extended content.

Name Explanation Required Requirements
Location - UrlName Internal unique key/ID for the Location. Used to associate the image with a Location. Yes Enter the exact UrlName for the Location that the image will be associated with.
Image Title Image that you want associated with the Location. This image will appear on the Location’s detail page. Images will appear in the top right corner of the detail page. No

Enter the exact image title or the beginning part of the image title as it appears in the Sitefinity image repository. Do not include the extension (e.g., .jpg, .png)

If you use exact match for 1 row, you must use it for all rows in this Sheet. Upon upload, you will indicate if you used “Exact Match” or “Starts with.”

Reminder: The Image must first be uploaded into Sitefinity before associating it to a product.

When associating multiple images in one import, all the images must be saved in the same Library.
Language The website translation that this location image will appear for. Yes Use standard HTML language codes. (e.g., EN = English; ES = Spanish)
Alternative Text Alt Text; Short description of image, used for accessibility and SEO. No Enter as plain text.
Total images (export only) For reference only, visible during export only. Total number of images associated with the location. No Do not enter information. Sitefinity will populate this information during export.
