Void an Authorization or a Settlement in PayPal Payflow - Processing Steps
In those occasions where a void of authorization to a credit card is desired follow the steps outlined below. You can only use a void transaction on a transaction that has not yet been settled by the payment processor. A void prevents the transaction from being settled by the payment processor, but does not release the authorization (hold on funds) on the cardholder's account. The hold on funds will be automatically released within 7 to 30 days from the date of authorization depending on the cardholder's bank.
If a customer desires the hold on funds to be released your organization has the following option:
Contact the customer to obtain the name and phone number of the issuing bank. (You can usually find the number on the back of the credit card.)
Contact the card-issuing bank and provide the account number and authorization code of the transaction in question and request that the funds be released (the transaction and authorization are to be voided).
Once the funds are released, the authorization code is voided and cannot be used. The release of the funds is dependent on each bank and there is no guarantee that the cardholder's bank will do so.
Step 1
From the manual authorization and settlement application (PQ670041) highlight the row and select the row exit labeled void auth/settle to attempt a void. Processing option labeled authorization void status within the PQ670041 application must have a valid status to activate row exit for voids of authorizations. To allow void process of a settlement transaction processing option must have a ‘1’ to activate the row exit for voids of settlements.
Step 2
Confirm void of authorization and/or settlement. If void is confirmed record will be updated with status found in authorization void status processing option.
